About my work...
I am primarily interested in research issues related to the broad topic of
human/computer interactions and human factors associated with creating and
using graphical user interfaces (GUIs). Specifically, I am responsible for
designing information interfaces and providing navigation tools for hypermedia
browsers such as NCSA Mosaic, Netscape, etc. I seek to expand the use of
hypermedia (multimedia) in information space for accessing and displaying
information available in all types of media (audio, movies, still images, etc.).
I am currently involved in WWW Administration for the
Scientific Computing Division at the
National Center for Atmospheric Research located in Boulder, Colorado.
My principal areas of responsiblility are:
- Serve as Manager for the Digital Information Group within SCD.
- Design intuitive navigational and other links for complex information webs
- HTML document filing conventions
- Authoring hypermedia documents
- Assisting others in converting materials for use on the WWW
- Hypermedia implementations on Web Browsers (audio, video, animations)
- Demonstrations of and general proselytizing about the WWW
Other activities
In addition to this work, I also:
- Work with a team of specialists in the Visualization Group
within SCD.
- Write grants and proposals for the Division
- Serve as a Hypermedia technical resource for divisional personnel
- Teach classes in hypermedia document authoring
- Dabble in C, PERL and other scripting languages

- married to a wonderful lady, named Mary, for 20 years and have an eleven
year old daughter named Verity
